Krispies

Background

I got this recipe from the Mrs. Fields Cookies recipe book.

Recipe

2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup crispy rice cereal
8 oz Nestle Crunch bar, coarsely chopped

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a medium bowl combine flour, salt and soda. Mix well with a wire whisk and set aside. In a large bowl blend sugars with an electric mixer at medium speed. Add butter and mix to form a grainy paste. Scrape down sides of bowl, then add egg and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture, rice cereal and chocolate chunks. Blend at low speed just until combined. Do not overmix. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 22-24 minutes. Immediately transfer cookies with a spatula to a cool, flat surface. Yields 3 dozen.

Notes

I like to add extra rice crispies for more crunch.
