food and light workshop 2011: about the workshop

Join us this summer in beautiful Boulder, Colorado.

Date and Location: The two-day workshop will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 2-3, 2011. Day 1 will be held on the third floor of the Rembrandt Yard Art Gallery, a gorgeous venue filled with natural light and views overlooking downtown Boulder and the local Flatirons. Step one block South and you are on Boulder's charming and bustling Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall which boasts several excellent restaurants and shops. The first day will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Day 2 will begin at 8:30 am at The Kitchen Upstairs and end at 3:30 pm. The Kitchen is located on the west end of the Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall (it's on Pearl St.).

Amenities: There will be free wifi access in both venues. The finest coffee and teas will be provided gratis by Atlas Purveyors. We shall supply light breakfast and snacks the first day and a family-style lunch together the second day courtesy of The Kitchen.

Topics: Our instructors will cover the fundamentals of photography including: exposure, manual controls, and lighting. Additionally, we will discuss composition, styling, and more advanced topics based on what participants want addressed. Lecture will only be a quarter of the workshop as we feel hands-on shooting and open discussion with instructors and fellow participants is an effective and enjoyable way to learn. The venue for the second day is in a restaurant setting, challenging attendees to work with variable light conditions and the dynamic environment. Due to the limited amount of time to cover so much material, this workshop is for dSLR users only. Attendees will be required to have a dSLR for the workshop. If you don't have a dSLR, you can always rent one from our sponsor Pro Photo Rental (they are here in Boulder!).

Registration: The registration fee is $650 per participant. Enrollment is limited to 25 people to maintain a quality learning experience and good instructor-to-attendee ratio. There are no refunds for any reason, although we are happy to honor substitutions if you can find someone to purchase your ticket from you or if we have a waitlist. If you have any questions, do contact us.
