This pattern comes from my pal, Rowena, who designed this one herself (she's brilliant). Aurora 8 is 100% superfine merino wool. It is machine washable and very soft as wool goes. I made this scarf 4 inches wide and 5 1/2 feet long. This was the first project where I learned the purl stitch, crossover cables, and ribbing, so it was an educational scarf! It's totally cool because it's reversible too.

Yarn 1: Karabella Aurora 8
Color 1: Charcoal Heather 22
Yarn 2: Karabella Aurora 8
Color 2: Navy 139
Quantity: One skein (98 yards each) of Charcoal and three skeins of Navy
Needles: size 7, 14" single point and one size 7 DP needle (for crossovers)

Pattern:

Normal Row: kpk *kpkpkpkp, repeat * 3 more times, kpk
Crossover 1: kpk *move 4 sts onto spare needle and hold BEHIND your work, kpkp the next 4 sts, then kpkp the 4 sts on the needle, kpkpkpkp, repeat * once more, kpk
Crossover 2: kpk *kpkpkpkp, move 4 sts onto spare needle and hold IN FRONT of your work, kpkp the next 4 sts, kpkp the 4 sts on the needle, repeat * once more, kpk

Cast on 38 sts.
Knit 8 rows Normal.
*Knit 1 row Crossover 1.
*Knit 5 rows Normal.
*Knit 1 row Crossover 2.
*Knit 5 rows Normal.
Repeat * sequence until end, then finish with 3 more rows (to end on 8 rows like the beginning).
Bind off 38 sts.

NOTE: I changed color from charcoal heather to navy after 41 rows of charcoal heather. At the end of the scarf, I also knit 41 rows of charcoal heather. The bind off is much looser than the cast on and tended to flare out more than I liked. When I wove in the tail after binding off, I tightened the bottom edge to round more like the cast on end. Rowena's original pattern had only 3 cables and used a large gauge yarn, so she helped me throw in the extra (4th) cable and increased the rows between crossovers.
