death valley national park, california march 12, 2005 |
For our springtime desert trip, Jeremy and I drove out to Death Valley to witness the "once in a lifetime" bloom and to wade through Lake Manly which is normally an enormous salt flat. The record southern California rains had transformed this incredible valley into one of life. We hit Badwater before dawn, hiked to Shoreline Butte from Ashford Mills, explored Golden Canyon during the brain-baking part of the day, and got to the dunes before sunset. |
