On the one-year anniversary of my sister's death, I decided that I needed to get away from the phone and out of the house. We took Kaweah up one of our favorite local mountains in the front range, Mt. Lowe. Spring is my favorite season in the San Gabriel mountains. On this trip, we took the Sam Merrill Trail to Echo Mountain where we cut across the Sunset Ridge connector to the fireroad. We took the Mount Lowe West trail (much better than the Mount Lowe East trail) to the summit. Wild flowers were in full bloom and the temperature was terrifically cool thanks to a dynamic marine layer. Mount Baldy still had some snow in the distance. |
