vamos shawl

back to make

I made this shawl for my grandmother for Mother's Day. It was a pattern inspired by my friend, Elisabeth. I then found one on the web that is similar and modified that. The yarn is super soft with hues of reds, oranges, pinks, and purples mixed with black. Sounds weird, but looks great and my grandmother loved it as you can see in the picture! The final size was about 6 feet by 2 feet.

Yarn: GGH Vamos
Color: Reds 04
Quantity: Five skeins (88 yards) GGH Vamos
Needles: size 15, 14" single point

Pattern:
Cast on 54 stitches loosely.
Knit 16 rows in garter stitch.
Knit one, yarn over TWICE and knit, continue the yarn over TWICE and knit until the last stitch which you will knit once. *Yarn over twice means I wrap the yarn around the needle three times (including the one time for regular knit stitch).
Knit all stitches, but let the wrapped stitches drop between each knit stitch.
Knit 10 rows.
Knit one, yarn over TWICE and knit, continue yarn over TWICE and knit until last stitch which you will knit once.
Knit all stitches, but let the wrapped stitches drop between each knit stitch.
Knit 10 rows.
I repeat the "yarn over twice" pattern alternating with 10 knit rows until the last section.
Knit 16 rows.
Cast off loosely.
6 feet by 2 feet.
