2019

It’s that time again… Time for our (15th) annual Year in Photos! As the calendar year winds down, we embrace the arrival of snow and all flavors of skiing that accompany it. 2019 included permutations and combinations of dog training, human-powered adventures, wild places, discovery, friends, and family.

We welcome comments at the bottom of the post. You can visit previous years’ greetings linked in the sidebar.

In February, Yuki celebrated her first birthday! We baked her a dog-friendly cake topped with homemade sprinkles (colored from blueberries, red cabbage, parsley, and raspberries). P.S. She shared the cake with Neva.

Neva spent her fourth winter establishing her Good Ski Dog status because she absolutely loves skijoring. As this was Yuki’s first winter with us, it involved ski training, coaxing, treats, and plenty of side-eye. Pictured: Yuki not going anywhere. (February – Steamboat Springs, Colorado)

Crested Butte Mountain rises above the fog bank. (March – Colorado)

A tender moment between a local moose and her calf. (March – Nederland, Colorado)

Some spring foraging finds: wild (feral) asparagus on the plains and black morels emerging through late mountain snows. (May – Colorado)

A naked aspen stand patiently waits for the right time to unfurl its leaves. (May – Crested Butte)

Alpine wildflower season coming in hot! Prairie smoke and larkspur in bloom. (July – Crested Butte)

Summer hikes with best friends. (July – Crested Butte)

Snowy winters bring showy summers. (July – Crested Butte)

Yuki fully endorses Colorado mountain living! She did her longest hike yet, to East Maroon Pass (September – Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness)

Autumn gains a foothold in Crested Butte. (September)

Nothing like a fall hike in the neighborhood. (September – Crested Butte)

Pups on fall confetti. (October – Indian Peaks)

Happily stretching our ski legs in the backcountry after an early season storm dropped 2 feet of snow! (October – Front Range)

November made up for its lack of snowfall with brilliant light shows over our house. (November – Nederland)

Yuki and Neva rejoice in fluffy snow, sunshine, and bluebird skies. (November – Nederland)

Wishing you happiness, good health, and a great 2020.

with love,

Jen, Jeremy, Neva, and Yuki
